Meet Sandra Sherwood:

Ms. Sherwood became a resident here at Simpsonville Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in early January of 2017. Prior to Ms. Sherwood’s arrival, she had lost the ability to walk and had spent over two months in the hospital. In her first month here at SR&HC she was unable to move her legs, and was told by two different nerve specialists that she would never be able to walk again. This was not encouraging news and left Ms. Sherwood to turn to her strong faith for support. She knew that the ability to walk again was her ticket back home.

Then one faithful day in March a miracle happened; she was able to move her lower extremities again. She began working with our Physical Therapy department and slowly she was able to regain her ability to stand. With her strong faith, determination and will to return home she was able to push herself to walk. “My motivation was to prove those doctors wrong”, she said. Ms. Sherwood is now able to walk over 600 feet and is returning home August 9th, 2017.

She thanks god and our therapy staff for doing such an excellent job in making her well again. It’s been 7 months since she admitted to us, and we are sad to see her go, but are overjoyed with her accomplishments and progress here. “I’ve been here 7 months and the staff love me to death, I have gained many friends and new family members in my time here, I will miss them all”.

Thank you Ms. Sherwood for sharing your inspirational story with us and others, you will be missed!
